An Interesting Concept Bike From The Specialized Bike Company

This concept bike certainly turns a few eyes and even more if used on the road. The design has an appeal although like most concept bikes ends up too extrovert and too expensive to become a marketable model. Mind you the money the Specialized Company have made means they have wads of disposiable income to invest in these kinds of ventures.

RevoPower Is Here For All 26" Wheeled Bicycles

This is called the RevoPower Wheel it turns your regular pedal powered bicycle into a Gas Powered Bicycle. It is a cheap and easy way to get about without the sweat and effort although it does defeat a big chunk of reasons for riding s abike in the first place! It consists of a 25cc two-stroke gas-powered engine and gears within the front wheel of a bicycle. This system can fit onto any 26" wheeled bike. Not bad!

A Bike For The Olympics?

I just like the idea of transforming the Olympic symbol into a bicycle that actually works from it, even with the right colour combination. Not too sure about whether is would compete in a an Olympic cycling discipline though.

A Children's Push Bike Made From Forest Wood

This is a push bike made from forest wood and specifically for. As the rider grows, the saddle can be raised. With four settings from 33 to 41 cm it works well for children up to the age of five years. It cost well over £300 and is made in Germany.

The Naked Rider

Not quite sure why this guy isn't wearing a helmet! Well you see strange things everyday but this is a sight for sore eyes, far better if it was a naked woman rider, but then I'm a bloke!

A Bicycle Designed For Doing The Rounds

This is a bit of cycling fun found today. Doing the rounds is exactly what this bicycle does. Going nowhere fast  is literally what you see here. Well group exercise is what you would get if all the saddles were filled.

Cycling Policemen

It's a nice sight to see policemen on bicycles. Police presence is all it takes to stop trouble and with a bike creates a diffusing mode. No crash helmets though, not a good example, but I'm not in favour of compulsory helmets anyway for many reasons.

An Electric Powered Pedal Bike

A pedal bike with electric power to help you along. Every year there are new designed and improved technology and I quite like this one with the large brad tyres. It is called the A2B Metro and the retail price is around £2000.

A Black And White Pictured Cycling Accident

There is something about black and white photographs that add a new dimension to photographs and cycling photographs are no exception. this was taken in Zurich, Switzerland. this accident just poses the question, "Was the rider okay after going down head first?"

An Electric Powered Tricycle

This is an electric powered tricycle made by a company called Gomier. With 450 watts of power it is powerful enough for speeds up to 8 mph (limited due to tipping over) and steep hills. It gives around 8-10 miles per charge without pedalling or up to 25 with pedalling. With a price tag of around £1300 it is out of my reach. Not to sure that tricycles are good fro urban riding as they cannot weave like conventional bicycles although that is what it had in mind.

Cycle Race in San Francisco

Yet another cycle race and another spectacular picture. This one is form the USA again, namely a California roadway as the race makes its way from San Francisco to Redondo Beach. The grey background against the colourful foreground of cycles make a great contrast.

Sumo Wrestlers' Cycle Ride

This picture was found which was taken in Salt Lake City during the fourth annual Halloween "Sumo Ride". I found it most unusual and of course a most unique event not even found in Sumo's home Japan!

A Online Cycling Game

It is quite the case that mountain bikers get injured, I for one have not been able to ride from various accidents and illnesses over the years. It is a pity I didn't see this online cycling game when I was incapacitated, it looks quite fun. I forget the site where I found it, but with a search for cycling online games you can probably find it or another similar.

A Treadmill Cycle

Well this is a great solution to those who can't decide whether to go for a jog or a bike ride. The treadmill bike is just the right solution, no need to toss a coin to decide one or the other. Jogging shoes and a cycling helmet are the required dress.

A Ski Bike

It's certainly been the weather for skiing and this picture takes the biscuit in innovation with a cleverly designed ski bike. The pedals are just footrests and it only goes downhill I imagine. It must work though.

Bicycles On Stamps

Well there is a niche in all areas when it comes to the world's most popular hobby. Bicycles has no escape from the hobby of stamp collecting. This book is an example of the passion some stamp collectors have from bicycles. I bet most of them must be keen cyclists themselves.

Cycling With Sharks

Not a place I'd like to be cycling or not! Not chance of a fast getaway if the shark decides to attack and in my opinion far worse than dogs coming at you. This aside, I'm sure this cyclist's chain and bearing will need greasing after this and assuming this is salt water the whole bike will  need a good rinse.

Sexy Cyclist

Well I can't say more than say read the title, it tells you exactly what you see here. No need to be a cycling fan to appreciate the view that it presents. Looking at the sandals however, I know this woman isn't a keen cyclist and just modelled for the picture - the tyres aren't even muddy!. She also needs a helmet. So. she isn't a sexcy cyclist, just sexy.

The Fat Tyred Ride

Sorry about the quality, but you get the picture. A fat tyred bike is a hard way of getting around. It looks like car tyres  that have been used. Only an eccentric would ride one I suppose and the rider looks like a good candidate.

Deaf and Distracted Cyclists

Going aroudn in a town or city with earphones in and communicating on something other than traffic is a suicidal hobby. With ipod and the likes poplar now combination is a death trap. When riding in towns and cities yo have to be fully alert on traffic that are out to kill you. You are making it easier for them with ipod et ups on when riding like this guy. I hope he is well insured.

The Mighty Bicycle

I'm not too sure where this cycle comes from as the website that it originated from is now deleted. It is a concept bicycle of course, not too sure how much it weighs, it looks quite heavy so economical riding would be difficult. In fact I am not too sure what it was designed for other than fashion. Looks cool though.

Team Time Trial Event

Another great action shot of a team time trial event with top racing cyclists in competition. The uniformity of the advertising clad clothing ads to the composition of the picture. The is something about racing against the clock - an unlimited goal.

The BMX Bike - Designed For Throwing About

This picture shows exactly what BMX bikes are designed to do. They are strong and robust and throwing them around is all part of the sport. I see many BMX riders in my home town with their tricks that they spent man hours practising in the streets. With a single gear they aren't designed for distance just fun and games and why not?

A Smashed Up Cycle

I'm not quite sure how this happened, I only hope the rider is okay. Not too sure whether it can be repair, but the spare parts will always come in useful. I feel quite sorry for bikes that get into such a state especially road bikes that shouldn't be confronted with the impact that this poor machine as taken.

A Useful Tool For Bike And Dog

I often used to take my dog out for walks whilst riding my bike. On a conventional lead it is a nightmare especially when he saw a cat! This tool is a very useful invention, being rigid but with a small degree of flex, make it a comfortable ride and walk respectively for rider and dog. More importantly, it's safe!

Not A Cycle In Sight - Just Cyclists

Road cycling is the most colourful sport as seen in this picture. Not a cycle in sight here as they are all obscured by road bikers riding them. The scene just begs for being part of the event although most of us know we could never keep up with them.

A Tandem - But Not As You Know It

I do believe this is the Red Devil waving from the top of this giant tandem. He follows the Tour De France every year and is a celebrity in the cycling world famed for his cycling eccentricity. The picture gives a good example of this of course.

Bicycle Gears - Very Useful

Gears are so useful on bicycles making it a joy to ride up and down hills with ease, especially on mountain bikes that have 7, 8 or 9 on the rear and 3 on the front crank. The technology makes them very easy to use nowadays and they last for ages if you clean and oil them regularly.

The Bicycle Wheelie

Bicycle wheelies is quite hard to master, it took me six months with regular practice. Once mastered however it's great when you can just strut your stuff. The photo was found because not only is this chap good at wheelies, but I really like Specialized mountain bikes. I bought my son one and wished I owned it.

A Cool Kid's Bicycle

Getting children to ride bicycles is an investment in their health, not only now, but for the future. It has to be a pleasure of course and a cool looking bicycle really helps. As long as it is safe as well as having street credit the that's great. This one retails at around £100.

The Quadricycle

This is a 'Quadricycle' a four-wheeled vehicle from the Victorian era. By the end of the 19th century they had disappeared but were reintroduced in the 1970 as a tourist vehicle that you can hire. Much more sociable than a tandem!

Cycle Touring - Taking In The Scene

I love cycle touring, I've ;lost count of how many miles I had clocked up. The freedom aspect is great and of course camping is a must with this activity, tent and camping gear on board with you. A lovely shot here of a cycle tourer taking in the view.

The Hobby Horse

This is a picture of the Hobby Horse and was built by Denis Johnson in 1881. He was a British coach maker but apparently wasn't the original inventor British coach-maker Denis Johnson. That in 1817 by a German inventor called Drais de Sauerbrunn, he called it the 'Draisienne' Johnson's version had no pedals and to move along yo have to push your feet along the ground. With no brakes dragged feet are used to stop.

The Original Raleigh Chopper Bicycle

This is the original Raleigh 'Chopper' bicycle of the 1970's. I never got to own one as I was skint most of the time as a kid. As I remember I wasn't too keen on this bike anyway. These are now collectors' bikes and are often up for auction for massive amounts of money. A fin fashion bike which I have not offence against as it does get many kids on bicycles and that' cant' be bad.

Racing Cyclists

There is nothing like the sight of cyclists in racing mode. Action shots of these events are exciting and of course you only get a split second to get the the shot they whizz past so fast. You will see many more action shots of this kind on this blog.

A Standard Unicycle

Unicycles aren't too popular on the roads for the simple reason that they are not very efficient form of transportation, beside looking like a clown riding one. Good for party tricks and entertainment but that's all.

A Clown's Bicycle - With Old Boots Rear Wheel

Clowns and bicycles seem to be made for each other! I know many cyclists who are clowns, but this one that I found takes the biscuit. The rear wheel is made up of old boots, I bet it works as well. I'm sure it moves slowly hence no brakes
